On 1 March 2019 the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (SACL) held an annual event to present an overview of the SACL‘s activities of the year 2018. During the event, the President of the SACL Gintaras Kryževičius presented the statistics of administrative cases of 2018 and court decisions that were important for the development of uniform practice of administrative courts in interpretation and application of statutes and other legal acts.

The President of the SACL also reviewed the main legislative amendments in the field of administrative law. New provisions of the Law on Administrative Proceedings, which introduced judicial mediation in the administrative proceedings, were noted as one of the most important legislative amendment. The representatives of administrative courts, courts of general jurisdiction and the Constitutional Court discussed whether judicial mediation and other possible measures, such as pre-litigation of complaints in administrative disputes, could reduce the increasing workload of judges of administrative courts and shorten the length of judicial proceedings.
