Delegation of the Judicial Council of Ukraine visited the Court

Delegation of the Judicial Council of Ukraine paid a visit to the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania on May 18, during which the guests met the President of the Court Ričardas Piličiauskas and the judge Ramūnas Gadliauskas. The delegation had a particular interest in the judicial system of Lithuania, competence of the administrative courts and activities of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania.

The delegation visiting the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania consisted of the judges from the Ukrainian Supreme Court, appellate and administrative courts and the representatives of the qualification evaluation of judges. The guests from Ukraine was accompanied by the former President of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania Virgilijus Valančius who is currently engaged in the project which intends to provide assistance to this state on reform of the system of justice.

The particularities of the administrative courts activities, the strengths of the establishment of specialized courts as well as their competence and daily work were discussed during the meeting. Much attention has been given to the discussions about an appropriate ensuring and exercise of a person’s right to a fair trial.
