On 26 October a round table discussion ‘Amendments of the Law on Administrative Proceedings of the Republic of Lithuania – challenges and opportunities’ took place in the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (the SACL). The participants discussed the most significant amendments of this law, shared their experience and insights into the novelties of administrative proceedings.
Judge of the SACL Veslava Ruskan presented amendments of the Law on Administrative Proceedings concerning hearing administrative cases in the court of first instance and the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania, as well as other novelties of proceedings in administrative courts. Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Legal Affairs Stasys Šedbaras later shared his experience in drafting and adopting amendments of this law. Advisor of the President of the Supreme Court Aurimas Brazdeikis presented pilot-judgment court proceedings and novelties in the stage of reopening court proceedings.
After the presentations participants of the event discussed current issues regarding implementation of amendments of the Law on Administrative Proceedings, spoke about problematic aspects of application of this law, shared the good practice in shaping uniform case-law in administrative courts.
